ABOUT US

The AERC for North-East India, Jorhat was established in the erstwhile Assam Agricultural College (Under State Govt. of Assam) in 1960. The Centre was transferred to Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat in 1970. Since then, the centre started functioning as per rules and regulations of the AAU. The AER Centre, Jorhat was declared permanent in May, 1990 by the Government of India. The Centre has already completed a long journey of about 60 years of services to the nation in general and the North-Eastern part of India in particular in the field of agro-economic and social sciences research. AERCs’ VISION

Seeking solution to the problems of agro-economic and social sectors through systematic studies in order to bring in satisfaction and fervour in the life of the farming community and capturing the desirable changes in the face of implementation of different development programmes launched by the Government.

And this is being materialized by conduct of periodical village studies, field investigations and science-based research on topical issues as identified by the Government Departments and undertaking third-party evaluation studies.
